Welcome to The Tower, a small, traditional, elegant hotel, restaurant and bar situated in the pretty rural village of Oxton, conveniently just off the A68, 4miles north of Lauder. The location is the perfect place for exploring the stunning Scottish Borders, as it is approximately 22 miles south of Edinburgh yet a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The Tower Hotel was built in 1903 soon after the Lauder Light Railway opened from Fountainhill to Lauder in 1901, stopping at Oxton. It was originally called Oxton Temperance Hotel but as Oxton became busier, the keeper of the Temperance Hotel, John Ramage Robertson, applied for a hotel license to sell alcohol and a number of years after this was granted, it was renamed The Tower Hotel. Over the years it has changed hands several times until it was purchased in 2022 by the present owners. After undergoing extensive refurbishment, The Tower was eventually re-opened in 2024. We would like to thank the locals for their support and patronage.
